Even if you haven’t heard of the term before, the “Japandi” aesthetic is instantly recognisable. A portmanteau of Japanese and Scandinavian, the name is exactly what it suggests – a combination of both interior styles. Some of the common details of this aesthetic include minimalist designs, earthy (or beige-y) colours and lots of light-coloured wood.
With clean and minimalist being the key theme in this aesthetic, how does having kids fit in? The design aesthetic has also extended into the world of toys, especially kitchen playsets and other food-themed sets. While this aesthetic is often mocked on platforms like TikTok, calling it “sad beige toys”, we made sure this list isn’t so sad and beige-y.
What is the best age for a play kitchen and how big are they?
A play kitchen makes the perfect toy – and the full playset is the perfect size – for one to five-year olds as they start to developmotor skills and hand-eye coordination.
