Spelunky 2: How To Complete Sparrow's Questline (2024)

If players have indulged in a bit of thievery by lifting goods from shopkeepers prior to world 4-1 in Spelunky 2, they can potentially meet Sparrow, the renegade ninja and master thief. Sparrow is the younger sister of the playable ninja character Dirk Yamaoka, though provides a much different role than her sibling.

Sparrow will offer a chain of sidequests that will involve the player pilfering items for her, so be prepared for some immoral acts if one wants to follow this series of stealing ventures in Spelunky 2.

How To Get Sparrow To Spawn

In order to get the outlaw ninja to appear, players will have to steal an item from a shopkeeper prior to entering world 4-1 (Tide Pools). Players should see the "Stop, thief!" text when thieving, which will indicate that an item has been properly stolen and will trigger Sparrow to spawn.

Exactly 2 levels after one's first shopkeeper theft, Sparrow will spawn in a wooden structure with a small sub-area in whatever location the player is found, be it the Jungle or the Volcano. Investigating the structure will initiate a response from Sparrow as well as some trigger dialogue that essentially challenges the player to steal from Madame Tusk.

How To Progress Sparrow's Quest By Stealing From Madame Tusk

In order to prove oneself to Sparrow so that players can continue her questline, it will be necessary to steal the precious Tusk Idol from Madame Tusk in the Tide Pool area. Within the lady walrus' Dice House, located on world 4-1, will be a gambling game where players can place down a lot of money in order to potentially have it doubled.

However, more importantly for Sparrow's questline, there is also a locked door found within Madame Tusk's Dice House. Behind this door will be the valuable Tusk Idol, however, players will need either a Skeleton Key or a Silver Key to enter it. If players have previously met Sparrow, the Tusk Idol will be free to pilfer, just be sure not to get too close to Madame Tusk or her bodyguard while possessing the Tusk Idol, as this will aggro them. Though, it should be mentioned that it does not matter if either of these foes sees the player with the Tusk Idol as long as neither the player nor them are killed. The death of Madame Tusk would go against Sparrow's thief code and will fail the questline irreversibly.

How To Complete Sparrow's Quest

One will not hear from Sparrow for a while as they proceed through the game, as the next meeting with her will occur in world 6-1 (Neo Babylon). In an inconspicuous area of this level, players can find Sparrow and speak to her to learn of the final leg of her questline: a grand heist to loot the goods from Madame Tusk's Palace of Pleasure.

After the briefing, players will have to travel to world 6-3 to find the Palace of Pleasure on the lowermost part of the level. Within, one will find a couple of dead bodyguards along with Sparrow and a bunch of chests stationed behind a forcefield of deadly lasers. Sparrow will offer the player 4 out of the 8 total chests beyond the laser grid, though, one will have to find their own way past the energetic trap.

It is recommended to use a method of teleportation, such as that granted by a Teleporter, Telepack, or The True Crown to get around the lasers, however, explosives can also be used to clear the way.

After getting by the laser trap, players can loot 4 chests freely, however, be warned, as opening any more than 4 chests will aggro Sparrow and will cause her to attack the player mercilessly, which will also prevent her from giving gamers the final reward for her questline.

After the appropriate amount of loot has been claimed, Sparrow will give the player a Corpse Bag full of 24 Ropes, which can be greatly helpful when one needs to do a lot of vertical exploring.
