A robotics-as-a-service model would break up that high cost over time, making adoption more manageable, and realistic. A factory planning to pump out 10,000 two-legged robots a year is taking shape in Salem, Oregon — the better to help Amazon and other giant companies with dangerous hauling, lifting and moving.Agility Robotics says that its RoboFab manufacturing facility will be the first to mass-produce humanoid robots, which could be nimbler and more versatile than their existing industrial counterparts.The news comes close on the heels of Beijing's recently announced goal of mass-producing humanoid robots by 2025. According to an ambitious blueprint published by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MITT), the advanced bipedal droids have the power to reshape the world, carrying out menial, repetitive tasks in farms, factories, and houses to alleviate our workload.Meanwhile, Boston Dynamics —makers of Spot, the $75,000 robotic dog—has built another decidedly agile bipedal robot. Atlas showed it could move various obstacles earlier this year, after nailing a parkour course in 2021.
