Ex-WCW Star 2 Cold Scorpio Arrested Following "Violent Stabbing"; June 24th Wrestling News Round-Up (2024)

Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Pat McAfee announce a first-of-its-kind partnership that will bring WWE’s three largest stadium events – WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Royal Rumble – to Indianapolis.

WWE has announced the date and location of the 2025 Royal Rumble and it is set to represent a historic partnership for the company.

Announced viapress release, the company confirmed that next year’s Royal Rumble will take place in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday, February 1st. In addition to the Royal Rumble, the home of the Indianapolis Colts will also receive a WrestleMania and a 2-night SummerSlam at a date to be confirmed.A 2-night SummerSlam has also been previously confirmed for 2026.

STAMFORD, Conn. & INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., June 24, 2024 – WWE, part of TKO Group Holdings (NYSE: TKO), and Indiana Sports Corp today announced a first-of-its-kind partnership that will bring WWE’s three largest stadium events – WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Royal Rumble – to Indianapolis.

Kicking off with Royal Rumble on February 1, 2025, Lucas Oil Stadium will host all three Premium Live Events including a two-night SummerSlam and two-night WrestleMania in future years.

Additionally, Raw, SmackDown, NXT and WWE Live Events will emanate from arenas across Indiana, including Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Evansville throughout the partnership.

WWE and Indiana Sports Corp will also work with community partners across the state to create a legacy program that will leave an impact well beyond the three Premium Live Events. More details will be announced at a later date.

WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Royal Rumble have a combined economic impact of more than $300 million, as the events bring hundreds of thousands of people into the host city from all 50 states and dozens of countries throughout the world. To date in 2024, WrestleMania and Royal Rumble set all-time WWE records for viewership, gate, sponsorship, merchandise and social media.

Since its inception in 1979, Indiana Sports Corp has hosted more than 500 national and international sporting events, including Super Bowl XLVI, the College Football Playoff National Championship, Men’s & Women’s NCAA Final Fours and 11 Big Ten Football Championship Games. In total, these events have led to more than $4 billion in direct spending in the community.

Launching on June 17th, 2023 to give CM Punk a platform while further showcasing the promotion’s stacked roster, the show has struggled to draw in the desired amount of viewers.

The show usually draws around 400,000 viewers, creating a negative aura despite featuring big name talents and stellar matches.

To hype the June 22nd edition of his Saturday night show Khan posted onsocial mediausing the one year anniversary of Collision as an incentive to draw in viewers.

The idea of being flown across the world for work is many, including this writers, idea of heaven.

But, in his latest vlog, SmackDown star Johnny Gargano has shown why it isn’t a luxurious as it seems.

In the vlog, shown below, Gargano flies from the US to Dublin to Glasgow and back in the space 48 hours, arriving on Friday for SmackDown and leaving for the airport on Saturday at 6am.

There’s a new sheriff in town on Friday Night SmackDown and their name is John Swikata.

According to a new report from Fightful, John Swikata has been internally promoted to the role of Head Writer for SmackDown.

Swikata is reportedly set to replace Ryan Callaghan who previously served as the Vince President of SmackDown and Lead Writer for the show since June 2020.

His departure comes after he, alongside Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and others were named in the lawsuit filed by former WWE writer Britney Abrahams in 2023.

That report, that has since been voluntarily dismissed, alleged that WWE had discriminated and related against her after she objected to the use of “racist and stereotypical jargon” in the writing for black WWE talent.

Former WCW star 2 Cold Scorpio was arrested earlier this month following a “violent stabbing” in Kansas City.

According to a breaking report from TMZ, the former WCW Tag Team Champion was arrested on June 15 in Kansas City at 3:40AM after “violently stabbing” a man during an altercation at a Love’s Travel Stop.

According to authorities, Charles Scaggs, better known as professional wrestler 2 Cold Scorpio, was working as a security guard at the gas store when an altercation broke out with a customer after he allegedly lit up a cigarette inside the store.

Scaggs goes on to claim that after informing the customer he could not smoke in the establishment he became aggressive, verbally assaulting him which eventually let to an altercation outside.

During the altercation the former WCW star claims the customer attempted to “grapple” with him, during the subsequent “scuffle” Scaggs reports that he pulled a knife and stabbed the customer in an act of “self-defence.”£

TMZ reports that investigators spoke with the victim later that day during which he claimed Scaggs to be the aggressor in the confrontation.

Scaggs has currently been charged with two felonies, first degree assault and armed criminal action.
